Nightstand height: match the mattress top
Your nightstand should match your mattress.
The rule: the nightstand top within about 2″ of the top of your mattress (most land at 24–28″ from the floor). Too low and everything is a reach down; too high and it towers over the pillows. Plan 18–24″ wide nightstands, 24″ of walking space beside the bed, and a lamp whose shade sits near eye level when you sit up.
