Make every selection before demo day
Pick every finish before the first wall comes down.
Undecided selections stall more renovations than bad weather. Order the long-lead items (cabinets, special-order windows) before demo, choose countertops early (they're templated after the cabinets go in), order tile with 10% extra, and buy the shower valve and trim from the same brand before rough-in. Get appliance spec sheets so the cabinet sizes are right, and mark where light fixtures go.
